Alcatel A1000 Ethernet (unsupported)
This modem is confirmed to work with our service but there is a KNOWN ISSUE that will cause some older modems to FAIL to connect, possibly resulting in expensive inside wiring work if the problem is incorrectly indentified.
For this reason we do not recommend or support this modem.
Some older A1000s look for the DSL signal on the outside pair of wires on the jack, what would normally be used for Line 2 on a 2 line telephone jack. Several solutions are possible:
1. Purchase and install a Line Swapper. These small devices swap Lines 1 and 2 on a standard jack. Since the DSL signal will be installed by default on Line 1, installing one of these line swappers will put the DSL signal on Line 2 where the older A1000s expect to see it. One such source for these is:
Excelsus Technologies L1/L2 Dual-Line Swapper.
2. Rewire the jack. This does require familiarity with telephone wiring and some time.
3. Have IgLou's Onsite Service rewire the jack. Call or email for mor information.
4. Have BellSouth or some other contractor come out and rewire the jack. This will incur fees from BellSouth for inside wiring and regular fees from other contractors, expect to pay upwards of $100.
