Zoom X4 5651 and 5551a Routed Configuration

NOTE:  Do not use this procedure on your Zoom DSL modem unless instructed by IgLou technical support.  Improper configuration of your DSL modem may cause interoperability issues with certain websites and may degrade performance or reliability.

  1. Open your web browser and go to http://10.0.0.2/ . Log in using admin as the username and zoomadsl as the password. You will be presented with the Basic Setup page.

  2. Set the Encapsulation to PPPoE LLC. Enter 8 for the VPI and enter 35 for the VCI.

  3. Fill in both your username and your password for your DSL line. Your username would be your DSL telephone number with @iglou.com on the end. E.g. 5025551212@iglou.com. Your password can be obtained by calling technical support if you're not sure what it is.

  4. Click on the Save Changes button at the bottom.

  5. Click on Advanced Setup at the top of the page. Then locate and click on the NAT button.

  6. Click on the Disabled radio button. Then click on Save Changes at the bottom.

  7. Click on Advanced Setup at the top of the page. Then locate and click on DHCP button.

  8. Click on the DHCP Server button. Then click on the Add button. This will bring up a pop-up window.

  9. Enter the starting IP address, ending IP address, netmask, gateway, DNS and SDNS (secondary DNS) addresses. These settings correllate to the information emailed to you on the original setup  instructions provided by IgLou. Click on the Save Changes button then close out of the pop up window.

  10. Click on the Trash icon under the 'Action' column that corresponds to the original 10.0.0.4 entry and then click on the OK button to delete it.

  11. Click on Advanced Setup at the top. Then locate and click on the User Configuration button.

  12. Click on the small pencil icon under the 'Action' column.

  13. Enter the old configuration password (zoomadsl) under the Old Password area. The new password should be entered as the DSL service password with two zeroes appended to the end of it. Click on the Save Changes button and then close out of the pop up window.

  14. Click on the Write Settings to Flash button.

  15. Click on Advanced Setup at the top. Locate and click on the LAN button.

  16. Change the Configured LAN IP to the gateway setting located in the email that was sent to you when your DSL service was activated. Change the network mask to the netmask listed in the same email.

  17. Click on the Save Changes button. The modem will display red warning text indicating that you may lose the connection to the modem if you proceed. The modem has not yet saved any changes, so click on the Save Changes button at the bottom again to proceed.

  18. Do an IP release and renew. This can be accomplished in Windows XP or Windows 2000 by following these instructions:
    1. Open a command prompt by going to your Start menu and clicking on Run. Type 'cmd' in the box.
    2. Type 'ipconfig /release' in the command prompt window, then hit enter.
    3. Type 'ipconfig /renew' in the command prompt window, then hit enter.

  19. Open a browser and go to the gateway address listed in the DSL configuration email. You will need to login with the same username (admin), but the password has been changed to the DSL service password with two zeroes appended.

  20. Click on Write settings to Flash to make ensure your DSL modem doesn't lose its settings if it ever gets turned off.
