Enabling PPPoE Keep-Alives on Zoom ADSL Modem

Enabling PPPoE keep-alives can help ensure that your DSL modem automatically disconnects and reconnects in the event the PPPoE session drops unexpectedly.

Note:  The 5651 series F modem has PPPoE keep-alives already enabled by default.

To enable PPPoE keep-alives on the Zoom 5651 or 5551a modem series, use the following steps:

1.  In Windows click the start menu, then click run.

2.  In the open box type the word 'cmd' and click open.  The Windows command prompt will open.

3.  In the command prompt window type the following:

   telnet 10.0.0.2 [press enter key]

Login is the word 'admin' [press enter key].
Password is the word: 'zoomadsl' [press enter key].

4. At the '$' prompt type:
modify ppp global keepalive enable [press enter key]
modify ppp global maxauthtries infinite [press enter key]
modify ppp global authretrydelay 60 [press enter key]
     commit [press enter key]
     reboot [press enter key]

5.  The new settings will be saved & the modem will restart.
